ANOTHER NEW MEMBER

Valerie Velhagen,  a career counselor at Eldorado High School has joined the EOC.  Val has worked with the club by providing students for HOBY, the Oratorical contest and this year the Essay contest.  Her support of these programs certainly demonstrates her Optimistic values.  Welcome, Val!

CHARTER PARTY

On Sunday, October 29, the EOC will celebrate its chartering and 60th anniversary.  The incoming president plans the event for the outgoing president to acknowledge members for their service and present a plaque to the Optimist of the year.  The activities will be at the County Line restaurant beginning at 4:00 PM for those wishing to indulge in the “nectar of the gods” with dinner at 5:00 PM or there abouts depending on the amount of nectar.  The menu is BBQ brisket, sausage, chicken, coleslaw, potato salad and non-alcoholic drinks.  The cost for this epicurean adventure is a mere $22.68 per person (tax & gratuity included). Helen will need to know who will be attending but let’s wait until she officially becomes president.

BALLOON FIESTA

Remember the Balloon Fiesta is an opportunity to raise funds for the club so if you haven’t already signed up for some shifts you still can by going to the website kiwanisfiestawork.org.  There are shifts for both morning and evening events and time to report and directions can be found there.

President Gary’s brother died last week.  Keep Gary and Phyllis in your thoughts and prayers.
