Today is the day designated by the Federal Government to remember the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for us to enjoy the freedom of our great country. It shouldn’t be neessary to set aside a single day for this but to be thankful every day for the benefits their sacrifice gave us.

On Friday, May 19th, a pizza party was held at the Horn YMCA for the kids who have been accepted for Optimist Youth Camp. This is something the club decided to do to bring the kids and parents together to ask questions and get further information about the camp. This was planned to attempt to elimate “no shows” and reduce the questions asked of school contact person Ed Briggs and the Y’s administrative staff. Camp Director Phil Beam and three counselors were present and mingled with the crowd. About 30 campers and their families attended.

Recent commnications from Bob & Hilda Aplin indicate that they are gettin settled in at their new home in Iowa. Seems that after packing and shipping all their “treasures” some of them have been donated to local Thrift stores. Does the word minimalism have more meaning?
Former members Mike and Peggy Swisher’s daughter, Liz, died recently. Services will be held June 17th, 11:00AM at St. Stephens Church. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
