TITLE I PROGRAM
At our meeting last week Jeff Beg spoke to us about the Title I program that operates within the Albuquerque Public Schools. The program is the result of the Federal McKinney/Vento Act which enables chidren who lack the necessary documents to register for school such as birth certificate, permanent address or immunization records. The term that is usually applied to these chidren is homeless because many have no permanent home or live in multiple family situations. The program here is different from other programs in the country in that it is also an outreach program providing transportation, feeding, career fairs and family counseling. In the 2013 school year more than 6000 children were part of the program. Thank to Ed Briggs for bringing Jeff to speak to us!
DISTRICT BOARD MEETING
The EOC was responsible for operating the Braggers Hall and as always ” we the unprepared led by the unskilled into the unknown” performed to the highest level. The display of our Christmas Bus/Train project went together in a breeze and was a great representation of the project. Its somewhat embarassing that we received the most votes and won the prize. I think the prize is an all expense paid trip to Belen. Anyway thanks to all who contributed of their time and talents!
